In a rented car, visitors encounter an AI-generated chatbot that speaks in the artist’s own voice. However, the voice is not based on Nymann’s personal memories, but on the thousands of statements and “memories for the future” that have already been—and will continue to be—submitted to the digital platform continuon.us.

The intimate space of the car creates a special situation: here one can speak calmly with the work, explore the collected memories, and listen to how those who came before interpret and process the time we live in and the time that lies ahead. Visitors may ask questions, share concerns, seek advice—or simply explore the metareflections and contributions that the chatbot operates from, the many memories that together help shape our shared future memories

In the exhibition Memography – Autobiography, Helene Nymann presents three works: Long Road Ahead (Ringsted Rider) (2025), Hippocampus Hippocampi (2023), and Carte de ContinuOnus (2023–?).  What unites these works is an exploratory approach to memory—not only as something individual and private, but as something shaped and shared across time, technology, and communities. Nymann works with a collective form of autobiography, in which present-day memories and imaginings create traces that can be discovered and interpreted in future times—by humans as well as non-human actors.  The works invite the audience to take an active part in this process: to reflect on their own life experiences, but also to contribute to a shared platform of memories, where individual narratives can grow together into a larger landscape of possible futures.
